Old Governors House Museum British Virgin Islands
Located on Waterfront Drive, just to the west of the main part of the British Virgin Islands capital, Road Town on Tortola, is the Old Governors House. The original structure dating back to 1899 was destroyed by the hurricane of 1924. In 1925-26, the present structure was built on the same site and was the home of Commissioners, Presidents, Administrators and Governors. Converted to a museum in 1987, after a refit of certain parts of the building the Old Governors House is now open to the public.
Tours are available Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 am. until 2:00 p.m. There is a charge of $3 per person to view the different rooms and archives that are preserved at the museum.
